I am so excited. [04 Aug 2005|10:19pm]
- We are proud to announce that JR Ewing has been invited to participate in the All Tomorrows Parties festival, which this year is curated by The Mars Volta. It's a 4-day festival taking place from Dec 2-5th, where The Mars Volta has chosen the entire line-up. ATP is held at the Camber Sands Holiday Centre in East Sussex, 60 miles from London. All bands and guests stay at the holiday centre, which means it's one hell of a party. Also our norwegian friends in Jaga Jazzist are playing, and several friends in bands from abroad.

Other bands playing include: Antony & The Johnsons, Blonde Redhead, The Locust, The Mars Volta, Dungen, Mastodon, High On Fire, Year Future, Beans and many, many more.

More info here >>> All Tomorrows Parties.

- JR Ewing are playing a one-off show in the US in September, at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. This is organized through the club Blå's (in Oslo) connection to the Empty Bottle, where they trade bands etc. We can't wait to play there on September 17th, and hope people in the roundabouts get to come out and party with us! Due to a tight schedule back home, we can't add any more dates.

- Next week the Øya Festival is taking place here in Oslo, and of course JR Ewing are playing the best festival in Norway. We go on at 17:55 on Thursday 11th, so see you there. Other acts on this festival include Hot Snakes (one of their last shows ever!), Sonic Youth, Fischerspooner, Seven Feet Four, Death From Above 1979, The Posies and tons more. If you haven't got a ticket, we feel sorry for you. Also check out JR Ewing member Erlend Mokkelbost's other band KILL, which plays the Øya-afterparty at Rockefeller on Saturday.

- The new JR Ewing record "Maelstrom" was released to critical acclaim in late May in Norway, and has done well. It made it to #14 on the albumcharts, and alot of people are still discovering the record. New video in the works as well.

As for international release, JR Ewing's management are still working on it, but things are closer now than ever before. We are talking to some good labels, and we will inform you as soon as it's set in stone who will release it internationally. Thanks to all the people emailing about it, but please have patience.

- Dates in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, USA, UK now up in our livedates-section!

More news soon, keep checking the website!

Best regards,

NEEWS - FINALLY [31 Mar 2005|11:13am]
- After over 2 months in the studio, our new record entitled "Maelstrom" is finally mastered and sent to the pressing-plant! The album is produced by Mike Hartung (Jaga Jazzist, Gluecifer, Shining etc) at Propeller Studios, with additional recordings done with and Kåre Vestrheim as well as Don Dons (WE) in Hangaround Sounds . Without sounding too pretentious, "Maelstrom" has become something we didn't think was possible, and we cannot wait for people to hear it. It is a gigantic leap forwards for JR Ewing, with a more intricate, more melodic and developed sound than ever before. It has taken us 3 years to go into the studio, as we've toured our asses off and made new songs the last couple of years. When we finally hit the studio, we were more ready than ever before to make the best album we could possibly make. And "Maelstrom" is just that.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Change Is Nothing (Everything Is)
2. For We Are Dead
3. Nihilistic Elitist
4. Take A Hint
5. Fucking & Champagne
6. Insect Intercourse
7. Floodlight
8. I'm Sorry, You're Sorry, We're All Sorry
9. Pitch Black Blonde
10. Here I Vanish

- Coverdesign is courtesy of Martin Kvamme (www.unitdeltaplus.com), wellknown for his work with Fantomas, Kaada, Mike Patton and many more.
- First pressing will include a bonus-cd with the cover-version of PJ Harvey's "Big Exit", as a treat for the first people that buy the record.
MP3's up on www.thejrewing.com shortly.

- Our new record "Maelstrom" will be released through Sony BMG in Norway ONLY, joining their roster of bands like Motorpsycho, Gluecifer and Amulet. We are very happy to be working with them, as they have been very supportive through our whole recording-process.

- The releasedate for "MAELSTROM" is May 23rd, in Norway.

- It is impossible for us to tell you when and through whom the record will be released internationally as of right know. We decided to work on that AFTER the record was fully completed, meaning; it will be released in Norway first on May 23rd, and internationally in the fall, if all goes as planned.

The Great Family Community [13 Apr 2004|06:52pm]

Greetings from The Great Family! Sorry for the crossposting! No, really!

This is a new community dedicated to the group of bands known as The Great Family.

These bands are An Albatross, The Cinema Eye, The Fugue, and the late Sick Lipstick. This community is dedicated to the discussion of all four bands and the various goings-on their individual members (i.e. new TSL bands like Fox the Boombox and current other projects such as Phillip's band The Sw!ms and Audion).

We encourage anyone who likes any of the above four bands to join and talk about whatever, post pics, their own tour dates, etc.

Here are all of our upcoming shows.
